I was watching the movie “eat pray love” the other week and when the part of her praying to God played, I was brought clarity on when I would pray to God. For when she came to pray, it was a foreign concept to talk to God for she had never done it before. She was desperate, she was in a marriage which she no longer wanted to be apart of and needed a sense of direction, she needed answers.
She kneeled down and asked God to show her the way out, to tell her what to do and she would do it. When I watched that I thought of God hearing her weep those words to Him and how badly He would have wanted to remove her from that situation and hold her in His arms. I thought back to all the times in my life when I prayed that the Lord would deliver me from situations, thinking that He would come down and just lift me out of it and place me into a better one. I laugh and shake my head as I don’t even know how I could have thought the Lord would just remove me from problems. I have know come to see that when in a situation to pray for the Lords guidance out of it, to seek for the crevice in the rock wall infront of me. To pray as she prayed that if He shows me what to do, I would do it. Instead of asking the Lord to bring me out of it…unharmed and completly fine when truly, our challenges and hardships are the very things which shapes us, matures us and strengthens our faith in the Lord.
For God desperately wants us to seek Him through all things, to allow Him to guide us through situations by His Holy Spirit. We come to points in our lives when He needs to bring us out of it, not simply by pulling us out of it but by walking with us step-by-step through it. I actually thank the Lord for every single thing I have gone through, I thank Him that He never left me and truthfully that He didn’ t just pull me out of it but walked with me through it. That He showed me the way out myself and empowered me by His Holy Spirit to do so.
Our God is a God of abundance, He is a God of provision, and He is a God who is the very essence of love. When we call upon Him, He will answer us, He will lead us and guide us into His righteousness. He is all-powerful and the Almighty King who longs to walk with us through this life, not just to be pulled out of it.
For Jesus died to give us the fullness of life and live it to the fullest through His Holy Spirit. To mature through a process of challenges, trials and situations that we must rely on Him to walk us through it.
Thank you Jesus for life, for your blood that covers me and redeemed me. For you have showed me the beauty of walking through every season in life, when walking with you and in step with your Holy Spirit. May I never live out of step with you and allow you to lead me through all situations, strengthening my faith as I trust in you!!!
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.”
