Something that I did not understand for a while was being a follower of Christ. I was blinded from seeing the truth in His Gospel and understanding why He came to earth. I saw His death as an event in which, if I asked Him into my heart, I would no longer be going to hell and would be able to go to heaven when I died. I saw if choosing Him, was going to bring me into a set of rules and religious traditions to follow. Because really going to church used to be dreadful, not understanding what the Pastor was saying or listening to things which made no sense to me. The Bible seemed to be a book, full of rules and words that complied together to bring upon confusion. I didn’t understand how much I truly needed Jesus until I lost myself and purpose. I didn’t understand how powerful the love of Jesus was until I began to seek it. I didn’t understand the truths in the Bible until I started to actually read it and ask others for help in explaining. I didn’t understand the true purpose of His death until I understood how desperatly lost we are without a Saviour.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23-24
For the last thing I would want would be to try to tell others what to believe, what they need to do to get to heaven. To tell people that they are doomed if they don’t follow a religion. For that isn’t what life here is about. That is far off what Jesus came to do. Jesus did not come to condemn people, He came to set people free. Jesus did not come to force people to follow Him, He came to show people the true way. Jesus did not neglect those who were lost, but went to save them instead. Jesus came to show true love, the love each one of us is desperatly seeking for. Jesus did not come to seperate those who do wrong from those who do good, but to show that without Him we are all dying.
For Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. When the “fall” of man happened with Adam and Eve, we were seperated from God through Sin (Sins are the wrong we do in our life.). Which brings upon death as sin seperates us from our creator, God the Father. Before Jesus came, people had to sacrifice animals and offerings in order to wipe away their sins. When Jesus came, He came to be the sacrifice of everyones sins once and for all. Through His death on the cross, He bore each one of our sins and through that destroyed the power of death through those who accept Him into their lives. For when accepting Him into our lives, we choose to allow Him to come and dwell within us. Which by Him living in us, we have eternal life through His Spirit. But if we choose to not invite Him into our hearts, then we are still under the bondage of sin which leads to death from the devil.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
Jesus did not come to make us choose either doing the things we desire or choosing Him to be saved into Heaven. He did not come to steal away our fun or keep us from doing that which we want to do. He came to set us free from the bondage of sin and show us the beauty of life here on earth with Him. For when we are living life with Him, we are no longer lost, seeking purpose or acceptance, but through Christ we have all that.
Jesus came to redeem us back into relationship with our Creator. Jesus came to show us that we are loved and have a purpose. Jesus came to save us from death through His grace and give us eternal life. For when we are living apart of the one who gives life, we are living just for this world and life rather than for an eternal purpose. We are eternal beings, we have a soul and Jesus is the one who saves our souls. Jesus is the one who gives life and who longs for us to see that He loves us just as we are. That although we make mistakes, He sees us as worthy of His acceptance and life. He came to proclaim that we no longer held under judgment for the wrong things that we do, but through His death we are forgiven. The Father loves so deeply, He loves you just as much as He loves me. He offers us all the same gift of life through Jesus Christ. God does not force His ways in our lives, but allows us to choose what we desire for ourselves.
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10
For it is as if we are all people living on the streets, we have no home or place to go. We live doing what we want but it never really leads to anything. We are continually striving for more and more, but never feel satisfied. A King decides that enough is enough of seeing His people living in such ways of hopelessness and opens up His Kingdom for all to come in it. All that they have to do is let go of their belongings, take off their filthy rags and leave all that they once had to enter into the Kingdom in which, all that was His is now yours. He is offering you a new life but still in the same place, just a new identity. He is offering you a Kingdom of beauty and love, rather than a place of darkness and poverty. You have to choice to live in the Kingdom or stay on the streets. How many of you would continue to live on the streets because you could not let go of all that you have become accustomed to? How many of you would stay living homeless although you were being offered a beautiful life, simply because of change or feeling of unworthiness to accept such a life? How many of you would continue to live in darkness because it became normal for you?
I hope you are able to see that there is so much to this life-for when accepting Christ and follow Him. We are not simply going to church, waiting to die to go to heaven but have access to heaven here and now. Just as the poor people were able to enter into the Kingdom here and now. Our lives aren’t made to just be survived, they are meant to be lived here and now as we would be for eternity. May you come to see that Jesus is the way, He is the way to love, acceptance, freedom and eternal life that starts now. His death conquered death and the devils power of us who believe in Jesus. We are not longer people of the world but when redeemed, children of God, inheriting His Kingdom through sonship. We are of value, of great worth and have a divine destiny. Life is so beautiful, may you begin to see the truth to your purpose and the Creator who created you.
“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” 1 John 5:11
“Jesus thank you for life, thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for your grace that doesn’t just covers our wrong doings but pulls us out of a life seperated from you and into a restored relationship with you. Thank you for freedom through your blood and love. You are enough, you are King. Amen”!
