Living in Faith

When people question Jesus Christ as being the Son of God, one of the quotes people say is, “either He was a complete lunitic or He was who He said He was”. For He went around not only proclaiming the Kingdom of God but revealing it’s power through actions. He did not come to find approval from man but to reveal Father Gods will for us so that we too could come back into a relationship with Father God. Jesus lived in faith. He lived in complete dependancy and obedience to Father God. For He Himself could do nothing without the Father.

“By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.” John 5:30

And as Jesus abided in Father God through His life, we too can only be used by God if we abide in Jesus Christ,

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

In Acts, it encourages me to see that it is either all or nothing for Jesus. That we are either burning hot or cold. There is no inbetween, for Peter puts it clearly, “We must obey God rather than human beings!” Acts 5:29

And the amazing thing about Peter and the apostles where when they were being threatened to stop doing what they were doing, (preaching and releasing the Kingdom of God) one of the Pharisee’s came forth and said, “Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their person or activity is of human orgin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourself fighting against God.”  Acts 5:38-39

For me this clearly shows what standing in faith is. For when we step out in faith, we are stepping away from all self doings and trusting for God to come through. For faith is not faith in ourselves, but faith in the Living God that He is standing through us and empowering us to fulfill that which He has asked us to do. Although others may question your faith, may question God Himself, if you abide in Jesus, they will not be able to deny Him because your life will declare of His Life.

“For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20

Our lives as followers of God are to be leaving room for Him to display His power through us. For when we live in dependancy on Him, we live trusting in Him each step. We stand in great faith, for Him to move in great ways. We allow Him to be seen through our lives because without Him, we would not be able to do what we are doing. It is not merely speaking the word of God but allowing Him to live it through us. As Jesus, He did not only proclaim the Kingdom but allowed it to be released through Him by putting Himself in situations where only The Father was able to work through; not out of mans strength but God’s power.

Has God been asking you to step out in faith in your life? Whether to trust Him with finances, to pray for a friend, or to speak to a family member about His love. Begin to step out in small steps, being a steward of what He has already given you and allowing your faith in Him to be built and strengthened. For Father God wants to start making history with you, stepping out in the small things to prepare you for greater things. For Jesus even said,

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

It all starts with the first step, choosing to abide in Jesus and live how He lived. Just as Peter and the Apostles moved in great faith, God came through and revealed His truth through all those who questioned. May you allow God through His Holy Spirit release His Kingdom through you so that others may not just hear about Him but see His power. For when we abide in Him and seek His will to be done, it will not fail for it won’t be of humans doings but of Father Gods. For we walk by faith, not by sight. Although we don’t see how something can be fixed by prayers or what our actions can produce, by trusting in Him who works all things out for His good and living in faith, He will be glorified through our lives!
